JS: Further Printwork Research

Within the process and progression of our music video for Hawk House's "Save it for another day", Hawk House have had a slight addition to their image. This is in the sense they now also have an easily identifiable logo. Because of the fact the rest of their image has remained consistent with earlier works and portrayals of themselves, we don't have to change our concept as it is still fitting with the metanarrative constructed. However, this does mean that we need to also incorporate the new logo to our digipak. Our original idea was that the cover would be the image alone, with attention not wanted to be drawn away from the significance of the image - as an album title may. We feel that if we have the album and artist name on the fold of the digipak this issue is avoided and that the clean cut text of 'BEBAS - The Original', and that we could include the logo in the top right of the front pane. This text may have to be changed to provide consistency with the font used in the logo - which is yet to be identified on the digipak, however due to the nature of Clash Magazine (where we are placing our advert) we feel that 'BEBAS - The Original' is a little more fitting. This means that the logo of the band is present which is important, but that it doesn't take significance away from the cover itself. It will simply overlay the image in a contrasting colour, making it noticeable but also not intrusive in a sense of a background over the top of the image.

Here is the band logo, it is used both with and without the text below it - at this stage we are thinking of using it with:

We see our print work relevant to running in Clash Magazine, as our artist has previously featured in this magazine. Moreover, they self proclaim that "Clash has consolidated its position as a leading UK and international title within the music, fashion and film sectors. While music continues to diversify and evolve, Clash endeavours to represent the crossover appeal of different styles and sounds. We feature the best new and emerging bands alongside established and popular acts and legends of the industry across our multiple media platforms - magazine and online; and through live events." Our artist clearly suits this criteria being an emerging group that has a unique sound that takes aspects from several separate genres.

We don't want to use one of the album names that Hawk House have already released as we don't think these are the best choices in context of the message we have constructed - instead using "Food For Thought". This is still relevant to the artist as they reference this idea and even use these three words as lyrics in several songs, we feel that this is more fitting to the nature of our concept - in trying to turn dominant ideologies surrounding class and delinquency on it's head. This is what the title would look like in the magazine advert - perhaps not orientation or colour wise but in terms of font type:

Dynamics: 420mm width ways (this allows for 3 x 138mm panes and 3mm fold lines) X 252mm length ways (2x126).
