JS: Further Inspiration

Below is a link to the music video for RATKING's 'Snow Beach'.

This video is inspirational for us because we feel it initially promotes similar aspects to those that we are trying to promote in our video - of realism in an urban setting particularly. For example, we will attempt the shots on the train, both for establishing the setting but also because the natural movement of the camera will reinforce our concept feeling real and plausible - like it is the character depicted's actual life and we are experiencing what they are. I also feel that the clean cut text introduces the video well - identifying song and artist name, and this is an idea we will test on our video.

The footage from 0:38 - 1:20 are suitable for our concept in some senses, with the intercutting footage looking out of a train window being where we got our initial idea for the establishing shots from.

(a montage of some of the shots from on the train that establish setting)

Whilst we could utilise these techniques and similar shots to an extent, I am not sure all would be relevant - for example, as explored in previous posts, we do not what to have a Black and White video; and moreover I don't think that the filler shots in the introduction of the artists would work for our concept - mainly because our introduction is a lot shorter, purely instrumental, and has the purpose of constructing a setting for the video: not metanarrative.

Here are some stills taken from some footage we shot in the style of this, emulating very similar shots:
